After losing my job last October 2018, I was a struggling job hunter for almost 2 months. Every day and every hour I send online applications to various job hunting sites and apps. Fortunately, almost every day of the week I have at least 2 interviews per day. Maybe because my resume was impressive enough for the employers to notice and that of I'm already an experience professional for a higher position already. And also, taking an examination or any assessment is not needed anymore.
From the series of interviews I've been through with the various companies for almost 2 months, there were three of them who are already positive for hiring me. From these three, I just need to choose the best one. The first company was in Pasig, It's an importation company and I got interviewed by their international bosses via Skype. The offer was okay, however I got worried on the stability of the company. It's been my practice to do company background and profiling on the company before I go in the interview. This is for me to know more about the company and its industry. Also, it would be beneficial for me if I know the company's stability as well because I need that as leverage for my negotiations on the salary and other benefits for the job. This Pasig company is just a subsidiary of their main company in Turkey, which means the process and orientation are not aligned. Normally subsidiary companies of an international counterpart are very poor in business process and system. I've seen this dilemma in the previous Japanese company I've been with.
The second company that I was already positive for hiring me is a wine company based in Makati. The interview was good and the offer was attractive. But I was half-hearted in accepting the job since the location again is Makati and travel time is really far from my home. I don't wanna have the same dilemma again of having 2-3 hours of travel time going to office and going home, and all just because of traffic!

The third company is the company I'm with now. It's a hospital and one of the premiere/tertiary hospitals in the country. This company fits all things I'm looking for a company. First is the travel distance, which is just 8-10 minutes away from my home. Second is the retirement benefits and gratuity pay that they give to their employees. Third is the yearly annual merit increase, which is fixed and budgeted yearly. Fourth, we have a meal allowance that is not taxable. Fifth is they give quarterly performance incentive as for of profit sharing to all employees. Sixth, the health benefits is superb including the yearly medicine allowance. These things I've mentioned are just few of the benefits I'm getting now. So last December 2018, I was able to sign the contract with them and started my first day last January 8, 2019.
During my first day, the usual orientation took place and I was endorsed after to my assigned department. I was in surprised that I was given my own room maybe because I am in a managerial position. From the moment, I entered my room, I already know that I belong here. I know I will fit into this company. I know I will love the people here and they will love me back. I know I will stay here until retirement already. These are the thoughts that came in my mind on my first day with the company. To cut the story short, I did my job well and had good relationships with my colleagues, staffs, & bosses, then I got regularized last July 2019.
With the New Company, New People, & New Workplace that I have now, I can say that I'm happy and contented. The camaraderie in the department is like family where we all got our back for each other. We are all together in facing all the challenges, ups, and downs of our job. As manager, I don't need to always prove myself at my best because they accept me for who and what I am, though everyday is a challenge in delivering our jobs and outputs, We are still expected to deliver with accuracy and at the right time. Every day, I always have the chance to laugh and take things in our stressful job lightly. Comparing this new company, new people & new workplace with the last two companies I've been with, it's incomparable. The last two were hell for me especially the people! My memories with them are not worth keeping for either good or bad. I just want to forget everything about them.
