Last October 29 was a busy day because of the back-to-back Halloween event of Trick or Treat for my little one. This was my child’s second year of joining a Trick or Treat event. In the morning, we attended the event at her school in Kindermusik (CTEC) in Greenhills then in the afternoon, another event was held in our residence in Mandaluyong. With these initiated events, I don’t need to join any paid events held inside the malls or hotels.
For the Kindermusik’s Trick or Trick event, I just recycled the Halloween costume of my child from last year’s Trick or Treat event held here in our residence. It’s a good thing that it still fits her. It was a good saving for me. The event at Kindermusik did not consume long hours. Just after the class ended, Teacher Dang just instructed the parents and kids to roam around the room and greet everyone in “Happy Halloween!” and “Trick or Treat!” while giving the goodies and candies to the children. It was a good experience for the toddlers to give treats to their classmates and cheerfully greet.
The candy-giving or treat-giving did not last long. When everyone was able to get a share of their candies and treats, we all pack up and leave the school room the usual way. By the way, parents were able to do groupie together with the children and Teacher Dang of course. Just like a class picture :)
As soon as we got home, I put my child to sleep first for a rest or nap before we jump in to the next Trick or Treat event. While she’s asleep, I prepared her new costume for this year. She’s a Spider Girl for this year! After I prepared the costume, I had coffee, my husband and I had watched TV then hola! Two hours had passed already. In thirty minutes, time the event will start soon. I started tickling and cuddling my child to wake up because we still need to get ready for her event. No tantrums this time, she’s been cooperative when I tried to wake her up. Probably because she’s already aware that she’ll be attending another Trick or Treat event that day. We had put on her costume and I ready myself as well as my husband. The event will already start in few minutes and we need to go down the building for the Registration process and Assembly.
Of course before we head down the building, picture-taking is a must! The Spider Girl is very happy with her costume and of course for the Trick or Treat event because she knows that her pumpkin pail will surely be filled with lots and lots of candies and treats at the end of the event :)
The lobby decorations were enticing and realistic. There were props of floating ghosts, pumpkins, graves, witch essentials, crawling spiders, and cemetery dirty look.
The Registration process and Assembly at the lobby of the building was quite manageable. Assigned people were on-hand to make sure assistance is available for all participants. Everyone was able to secure their number and food stubs accordingly. There was also a photo booth for souvenir photos. Participants were really on their career mode to dress up on their best Halloween costume. The scarier the costume and the look, the higher chances of winning for the Grand Prize! Yes, that’s right. Everyone was really motivated in joining the event because of the high value prizes provided by the building.
Seeing all the participants in the lobby was really overwhelming. Total number of participants had reached to more than one hundred, which is more than doubled the quantity from last year. It’s surprising and at the same time it’s a good thing that everyone had been very cooperative and participative. I just hope that soon that the homeowners’ association will be settled soon for the benefits of all tenants and unit owners in the building.
After securing the number and food stubs, we were instructed for photos at the booth for souvenirs. Afterwards, we can now proceed for the Trick or Treat activity whereas we can knock from door to door in every floor. A map guide was given together with the number and food stubs so participants will know how many units had participated to be candy donors. Apart the map guide, there was also sign print in every participating unit door. In this way, it would be easier for the participants to know which door to knock in for candies/treats.
We were one of the candy donors, and we’re able to prepare 75 packs of assorted candies/treats for the events.
The Trick or Treat activity of going up in every floor is really tiring but seeing my child’s happiness is really priceless. She’s really happy knocking in all doors and shouting “Trick or Treat!” and “Happy Halloween!” to the people who will open the door and gave her candies/treats. In just few doors, her pumpkin pail was already filled with candies/treats. To empty the pail, we need to transfer everything to another bag so we can proceed to the succeeding doors.
When we have reached the final door at the highest floor, we headed to the Function Hall already for the event proper and snacks. There was a talent portion and parade of costume for all participants. Since the number of participants is more than one hundred, my child got impatient of course. The usual impatient toddler instead she looks for other ways to entertain herself like roaming around, going on other areas of the hall, running, playing with other kids, going up and down the chairs, chatting with other kids, jumping, and more. In short, she’s very “malikot” and “makulit” while the event proper is ongoing. As a mom, I need to follow her everywhere since she might get into trouble or accident if I don’t look after her.
Despite her being “malikot” and “makulit”, I was able to take some photos of her together with other participants who were dressed up at their scariest, at their cutest, and at their best. Though we are not aiming for the prizes, I want my child to enjoy the activity and socialize with other kids who also live within our building premises. Since my husband and I are both working, my child rarely goes out of the unit to play with other kids. She is used to playing all by herself on her toys and nanny.
The Trick or Treat event had ended with a blast. All snacks were served. The rightful and deserving winners were declared. The plentiful of candies and treats we had collected are really overwhelming. We were able to fill-up a big plastic bag for it.
My child had the priceless fun for sure and we’re looking forward in joining same initiated event by next year in the building. I can start of thinking for my child’s costume for next year as early as now. Any suggestions?
